We are looking for talented writers to submit articles to
American Northwest Vintage Homes online magazine.

Overview:
American Northwest Vintage Homes is a constantly evolving online publication created especially for people who appreciate homes with history. Each article targets people with discriminating taste. American Northwest Vintage Homes is dedicated to creating a sense of community and encouraging the historical preservation of the Northwest. We use 1950 and prior to define "Vintage," including pre World War II building styles and techniques.

Content -- What We Like:
Not only are our articles educational and engaging, our readers should have fun reading them. Please familiarize yourself with our website before submitting. We suggest submitting seasonal articles four months in advance.

Articles of interest include:

Award Homes: Feature-length articles describing the unique relationship between the home, the homeowner and the history of the home.

Feature Articles on Seasonal Topics:
Feature-length articles on seasonal topics that specifically address challenges and solutions for the Vintage Homeowner. Examples should include ways to enrich the home while saving time and money and still enjoying the process.

In My Garden:
Column-length articles on seasonal gardening themes including tips specific to the Northwest and the Vintage Homeowner.

Northwest Creatives:
Profile of established or emerging creative professionals. We appreciate a link between the artist and Vintage Homeownership (i.e. the artist lives in a vintage home and/or creates art for the Vintage Homeowner).

Vintage Destinations:
Column-length articles on vintage destinations that inspire and invigorate Vintage Homeowners.

Vintage Home Humor:
Personal stories and/or short anecdotes that convey the uniquely humorous relationship between the homeowner and the vintage home.

You Can Do It:
Column-length articles that describe a personal or well-researched approach to what might be an otherwise daunting renovation or repair project.

NW Vintage Neighborhood:
Short informative profile of a neighborhood or historic association making strides in the community through joining forces.

Content -- What We Don't Like:
Please do not send ideas that have not been fully developed into professional quality queries or manuscripts. Please do not call with ideas. We may require up to three months to consider queries and manuscripts, and so we accept simultaneous submissions. If we like your idea and writing style, we will contact you.

Submitting Articles:
For feature-length articles, please send a query with published clips. We prefer to work with experienced writers, but we consider a small number of conscientious new writers. We prefer to receive manuscripts for column-length articles, stories and anecdotes. We will consider reprints. Please state where and when the article was previously published. Submission of manuscripts by email is encouraged. Please include a brief cover letter summarizing your manuscript and briefly outlining your professional experience. We prefer to receive email submissions as Microsoft Word attachments and copied and pasted into the body of your email. If we are interested in your work, we will contact you. Please indicate if you have photos available and provide a brief description of their content. Your contact information should appear on all letters and manuscripts.

What and When We Pay:
Our rates are modest, but that does not mean that we sacrifice quality. Our rates may vary from those quoted here. Generally speaking, we offer $150.00 for a feature-length article and anywhere between $25 - $100 for a column-length article. Stories and anecdote rates are negotiated individually. Reprints generally run between $25 - $75. We pay upon publication, in other words, we will send your check when we post your article. You are responsible for paying any third parties and, of course, same goes for taxes.

Where to Send Submissions:
By email to: Christina Katz at submissions@anwt.com.

Letters may be addressed to: Greg Robanser, Publisher/Editor.

Thank you for your interest. We hope to hear from you soon.
